+not really going live on this channel anymore (I guess) because youtube decided to thanos clap the option to start a stream whenever you want in lieu for setting up a stream manually in advance. the most convenient thing for me to do at this point is to upload the vods afterward, so here we are. +So youtube just doesn't know what to do with dual track audio, it throws out all tracks but the first, which means you only hear me talking and that won't do. Had to reencode, media encoder has an issue with cuda encoding currently where it takes way too long and it's frustrating. Took me like 2 weeks and it's gonna work this way every stream just because youtube doesn't know how to deal with dual track audio. cringe. like what's the point in recording while streaming if it just ends up ruining my upload and download speeds for a whole 24 hrs straight i need to move out

+i did not finish this game on stream. i had the rest of the experience on my own and i sobbed at the march bit. not sorry it's an amazing part of the story. i did the 100% pacifist mlk route and i took every chance i could to save someone when prompted to, i actually feel like i did the right thing for just about every situation when it came to connor's and markus' story, because i deviated connor and converted a bunch of people, and markus kissed north and the president was like it's all good but kara's... freakin luther died to save us and then alice got shot on the boat but kara decided to continue living idk i didn't like that ending but i guess there are worse endings i just feel like deviant connor, successful movement leader markus and luther, kara, and alice escaping to canada is the optimal ending for all stories, but my "do what i would do if i was in this situation" didn't turn out perfectly and i lost luther and alice. I suppose philosophically, this means i ought to reevaluate my decisions from a consequentialist perspective or something.

+anyway i felt that experience wouldn't be great on stream. tbh, this is the only stream i haven't really enjoyed streaming since the hardware and upload speed struggle days. i enjoyed the game a lot more when i wasn't trying to commentate constantly and i feel like this stream was nowhere near as interesting, especially considering i kept getting up to do stuff and getting interrupted every 2 minutes. wish i could have enjoyed playing it on stream but oh well.

+got some pretty bad hissing in this one and it's all because i didn't slide a single slider in OBS. quick tip if you got a focusrite solo, you definitely want to mix down to mono so that input 1 doesn't output in L only, but if you only mix down, input 2 and input 1 will be on the same track. which is you'd think would be fine, right, since it sounds fine initially. but actually whether or not you have something plugged into either of these inputs there's a certain level of hissing/static that you can hear. so if you were messing around with a $75 used stratocaster in decent condition right before streaming and so you had input 2's gain up, that hissing will be all over your mixed down track. so you gotta slide it over to L so that no matter what that hissing won't show up in OBS. now discord? they don't even give you the OPTION to figure that out, they just mixdown to mono for you so you'd have to use some other third party program to figure that out. so thx discrod. would rather mixdown to mono and boost input the way I WANT TO but who needs options? whatever at least I figured that out.

+Tried a couple new things with the audio; I wanted to practice more professional post-prod audio standards, so I manually normalized this vod to get it closer to -6 dbfs. I will attempt to keep and perhaps improve this standard going forward. This stream taught me a lot about recording better as well. Perhaps I'll re-evaluate my entire setup before next time to streamline the process further. The OBS hard limiter may make a return, but idk I still don't like how destructive it is? Same thing with nvidia broadcast? We'll see.

+audio i think is FINALLY ironed out to be the consistent quality I was going for. all it took was learning how the hard limiter actually worked to realize that setting it at -6 makes it so all the peaks are harshly compressed, so as long as the vocal volume is at a comfortable level, it's good. i don't have to set the gain constantly and cut all over the place whenever i see a peak. should help the highlights improve significantly as well so the audio isn't going all over the place and i WON'T have to do audio passes anymore at least not to such a degree. hallelujah. we love streamlining.
